Our 2nd Yr ROM Anniversay

Time past really fast. On 9 Sept, me and darling is legally married for 2 years.
Nothing fancy about our celebration, except he specially come to Jurong and wait me to knock off for a nice dinner.

Initially plan to have buffet plus KTV at Marina Square Kbox, but till we reach there then notice the buffet had been remove... haiz. Never mind, just had to plan something else.

So since I had not been to Pariss Buffet before, darling decided to treat me there.

Got a snap shot of the restaurant. Believe many people had been there before. Unlike me lor.. mountain tortoise. But is okay, at least I get to try now.

Immediately when you enter, the 1st counter were all the cold food like prawns, mussels etc.

The Thai Style Octopus taste real good.. love this cold dish counter. Anyway for the Oyster, due to the freshness, unlike other buffet places, it need to be order. Every order is only allow 1 serving each round. feel  kind of weird... can't I had 3-5 pcs at a go??

Next is the sushi bar for those sushi or sashimi lover like me. and follow by the salad bar before it come to cook food.

Fried Rice, Chicken roll, Black Pepper crab etc are all in those silver pot up for grab. And at the turning corner we had all sort of soup. steam items, then follow by fried foods before finally is the dessert bar.
As you can see from the photo above, lots of those fried food behind me. Things like calamari, Ebi Tempura, thai fish cake etc.
And there... In the photo above, you see a small section of the dessert bar.. Okay I admit... I'm just trying to camwhore... hehe.

So as usual.. my habit, 1st time to go for is the sushi bar... with plates fill with salmon sashimi. Okay camwhore abit on myself with the plate of salmon in it. Yummy.. Awesome and it is really fresh.

And as usual... I like to take a snap shot of darling... and here he is in a super stupid expression.

Have you all ever see chawamushi with a clam inside?? Looks rather weird right?! Okay anyway for the taste is so-so. It just a plain steam egg with a taste of the clam favor in it.
Nice darling help to crack the black pepper crab for me so I won't had a bad time making a big mess on my hand.. so see the crab we having... like those from the "Zhu Chao" stall.
And have you see people eat crab that totally never use hand to touch the crab??? Here is one... my darling.. be it eating prawn or crab... he never want to dirty it.
Okay... just trying things out here and there simply make me full very fast. Now is time for dessert. How can any girl resist these colorful marshmallow with the chocolate fondue??
Okay I simply get 3 sticks only as there is too many nice dessert to have too.
Simply yummy.. Love it to the max
Cheesecakessssssss...... yes lots of different kind of cheesecake waiting for me to get a bite in the fridge.
Range from Oreo Cheesecake, Mango cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake etc.. Too many to be name.
But I just grab a few which I feel it is appealing to me, as my tummy really can't fill more.
Okay.. I simply only have Oreo, Mango, Chocolate and Pariss Cheesecake. The one in the center is my favourite tiramisu. Out of 5, my taste bud feel Chocolate Cheesecake is the best... the rest is kind of so-so, not to my expectation.

With so many cakes... how can I left out a good cup of tea. Selection of the tea not that many, but at least there is one of my favorite favor, Blackcurrant tea.

While resting and trying hard to get the food digest in my tummy... is camwhoring time again.

And finally I just wan to tuck in the final dessert which is the Herbal Jelly "龟苓高"
Cooling herbal jelly shall be my final food that goes in for the day.
While darling continue having his longan, assam curry fish... he just have gigantic space in tummy..
One last photo load in while waiting for him to finish.
Anyway I didn't eat the Ice-cream... I'm just posing with it, to show how good I am in scooping it. Don't you feel it like those expert ice-cream man scoop out? so even. hehe

Conclude for this dinner... okay will give a try in maybe few months time. Those food that is order in the menu really taste good as it is freshly made. Replenish time is fast, so don't need to act like hungry ghost go and snatch. Will be better if it is a big group of friends goes together.. so that more people able to share.
No chance to try all the dish as age catching up... tummy tends to have limited space.

Well shall wait till next time to go again and try more.

To my darling:
Happy 2nd Year Anniversary...

May we have more years down the road to celebrate our Anniversary.

Enjoying Nice Dinner recently.. Whooo

Recently darling had been bring me out to eat.....
If I craved for it... we just travel there, no cooking is needed for me or Tabao home... Woohooo.

Just to reflect what have I been eating recently..

Korean BBQ @ Nex
It was actually darling poly frzs gathering, and I'm actually there to join the crowd. Especially all along I would like to try the Korean BBQ buffet @ Nex.
Food wise was ok, love the chicken (already cooked), the korean ginseng chicken soup (only 1 serving per pax :( ..), pork belly and squid. Rest of the food... hmmm actually not bad la, like seoul garden but is much more fresher that what I can say. And also this Korean BBQ had more cooked food. So before I waited for darling to BBQ or have the food cook in the steamboat, at least I'm able to fill my hungry tummy.

Any this round I did not took much picture as I was busy eating all the way, so just a snapshot on how the environment look like.
Got Korean restuarnt feeling??
Didn't took pic, but Yenling did use her Polaroid to take some for us.

@ Chomp Chomp hawker

Craving for the fried hokkien prawn mee again, so i went to Chomp Chomp for dinner again.
Last blog I had mention abt it before. This time round I'm mainly there for the hokkien prawn mee and will be eat more of rubbish food... haha
In terms of rubbish food... meaning those small small snacks food la.
Like fried oyster omelette (蚝煎)
Super nice especially dip the chili
Popiah and Rojak

Nice popiah on the left... and Rojak on the right
The popiah they made is really fantastic.. some of the people outside kind of don't know how to drain the water off the veg and make it super soggy when they wrap. But over here at Chomp Chomp the taste is just right with right amount of peanuts to let you have the crunchiness when biting it.

So how can I forget to order sugar cane juice to quench our thirst and this round I order a large plate of fired hokkien mee to share with Darling

Actually we did order another dish which is the BBQ chicken wing... didn't took the picture becos we waited super long and once it arrived, we start grabbing it to eat.

Chomp Chomp a good place to explore for local food at a reasonable price unlike newton circle.
Hope they are able to keep maintain this kind of price, but maybe they should increase the number of seats there. It just so hard to find a seat.

Astons @ Sembawang Shopping Center

I been passing by this place quite a few times but never enter to try till that day darling bring me in.
I always had the impression that this place food is expensive as it is selling quite nice beef.
Their daily special can have a nice grade waygu beef that cost $56 a plate.. and it always put at the entrance... so kind of don't feel like going in for a normal dinner.

But I am absolutely wrong. The price is very reasonable and portion is filling. All main dish come with 2 sides dishes of your choice. I'm a potato lover... which result I'm unable to decide which kind of side dish I should get... hmmm.. potato salad, bake potato, mash potato or fries?? And should I get some veges... like coleslaw, garden vege or I should get onion ring?? Okay I'm super indecisive.
And finally come to a decision to make order after 5 or 10mins time.

Candid shot of darling serving me drinks

Scenery outside the restuarant

That is how the place look like
And not very long... our meal is been served.

Prime Sirloin Steak with potato salads and fries is what I ge for my dinner.
Cook it to medium-well done so that I'm able to share with darling. Otherwise I definitely go for medium done.. Cos I love how the blood ooze out when I cut... haha... okay.. I know I sound evil.. But it taste good when beef is not that well done. To maintain the tender.

Anyway Medium-well is still okay for me... the chargrill sauce on it is fantastic and I really wish to go for another slice of steak... yummy.
And my beloved potato salad... wish they give me more.

What darling order is a double chicken... which mean two slice of chicken and we can have different sauce. So we go for the Char grill which is their in house speciality and the all times favorite Hickory BBQ sauce.

It comes with Coleslaw... which earlier I thought of having some veg and Onion Ring.

Frankly speaking, it really fill you up.. I nearly wanted to order the soup but lucky i hesitated.

So guess... what is the damage to our pocket???

Total is $28.40... isnt that cheap... and if you look carefully at our bill... there is no 10% service charge.

So while darling paying bill... my job now is camwhore.

Seriously speaking.. I will definitely come back to Astons for dinner again..

Okay.. shall stop blogging now and get back to work.

Sweet Softy Ribbon

I'm a big fans of Ribbon.... Simply bewitch by the sweetness of it.
It made you feel so girlish when dressing with ribbon. Recently I had see lots of hair accessories selling ribbons hair band, ribbon hair tie, clips etc... I'm so tempted to buy but the price is kind of on the high side.

So with my creative idea.. I thought of trying out to make a ribbon.
Hmmm... I like pink... I want it to be sweet... a soft squashy one will be nice if it like a soft toy...
So I end up up with a Ribbon like this:

Sweet Polka Dot Ribbon

So to start off with how i did it, below is the items you need.
  • Needle
  • Fabric
  • Quilt Battling
  • Sample of paper cut out (this is the size you want your ribbon to be)
  • Cloth Scissors
  • White thread (choose the color that match the fabric)
Items I had used

I choose the polka dot design fabric as it make me feel so sweet and young with it.
Base on the sample of the paper, I cut 2 piece of fabric out.
With the "Outer" side of the fabric facing together, I pin them together with the paper cut out.

Start sewing the 3sides of the rectangle, leaving 1 side un-sew. You may use sewing machine to get the job done faster, but i choose to do hand sewing to practice more on it.
Sew along the line

3 sides sew with only one side untouch

Once it is done, make a  few snips at the corner. This is to enable it will be flatten when flip over.
A few snip at the corner
So now is time to flip over, and stuff quilt battling in it. Depend on how full or squashy the ribbon you want it to be to add the quilt battling. For me, I in put a thin layer evenly in it.

Flip it over, with stiches insides

Stuff the Quilt Battling
Once you had stuff evenly the battling, fold both opening sides inward so that it look like a perfect smooth closure and start sewing to close the gap.
Time to fold in

I use the hidden stitch method so that there will be no running thread outside.
What you got now is a mini pillow.
Isnt that cute
Okay... to have a complete ribbon look, what I left is how i should grab hold the center part. I ever thought of using needle and thread to sew it... but it just feel weird.
So i cut out another fabric which is ard 4 cm x 3cm
What i need to do now, is fold it into half and sew at the longest side
Simply just do a running thread stitch
Flip it over and try to centralise the sewing area at the center just like the follow picture.
Now is time to coil at the center of the mini pillow to create the ribbon look.
Fold at the end and sew it together. Note that the stitches should only sew on center fabric and not on the mini pillow. If you do so, then you will had a hard time to adjust the pillow to a perfect ribbon look you want.

This ribbon can be use in many ways, you may just add a safety pin to treat it as a brooch, or tie a rubber band to it s that you are able to use it to tie your hair. Or you like me, just simply add a bobbin pin and it can be a hair clip.
Just clip the bobbin pin on it
That is me... trying out my clip to have the sweet girly look.
