Crochet Rose

Is the last day of the year so I thought to make the last blog before a fresh start of the year.

I'm going to show the process on how I did the crochet rose which is in 3D. At the end of it, u are able to add a pun as brooch or glue to a clip to wear it as hair clip.

First u make a slip notch ready for crochet, then chain 50.
After which make a slip notch, turn and make single crochet throughout on each chain.
Coming to third row, slip notch, single crochet on the first stitch, then skip one stitch, and do seven single crochet on the same stitch to make a "scallop" then skip one stitch to make a single crochet. Keep repeat it to the end of the row. You should be having 12 "scallop".
On the fourth row. We going to increase the size of 6 "scallop" as it will be the outer petals. So here we go by doing single crochet on the next two stitch, two single crochet on each stitches for the next 3 loop. Follow by single crochet and a slip notch. Keep repeating it for the next 5 scallop. End with a slip notch, and left a tail about 5inches.
You should be getting something like this

Once u are done, u are ready to stitch them together to form the rose.

Twist it around to form the flower shape

Sewing the inner petals shape using the starting yarn

Slip the yarn thru to the bottom for the ending point yarn
The most outer layer had a rough gauge on how you want to position it
Start Sewing at the Bottom

The complete job of the rose

Reminiscence of 2011 and Resolution for 2012

Almost coming to end of 2011, reflecting what I had done for the whole year... hmmmm...

I got myself upgrade into marriage status. Shifted from my cozy dog room to a share room with my hubby. Although still staying in the same area, but somehow still not really use to it. As no one making meals for me when I'm hungry. But one thing good is, I got a toilet attach to my room... haha that is what I had been dream of.

This year, I also started blogging. Kind of lack in writing as very often I say I wanted to record what I had been doing. But it is always nice to kick start back on blogging. And from my blog, you can see I start doing more crafts work. Which I use to love it, but stop doing due to busy work schedule.

Well, I also got my promotion to Senior Customer Account Engineer this year. Happy for myself as it shows that hard work will have fruitful returns. Only thing bad is I not paid to the market rate. But is okay, I enjoy working here due to my nice colleagues and get to learn lots of things which I don't think I will had a chance to get to touch on.

Also I join the People Associate (PA) volunteer sub-group @ Admiralty Gardern CC under Womens' Executive Committee (WEC). This is where I had fun, joining group doing fun stuff to the community. Will get to involve more in it and enjoy.

2012 Resolution:
  1. I need to do more blogging, at least twice a week
  2. Be a more organise person, stop messing up place.
  3. Have a new refresh look to start with and stop slacking.
  4. Must push myself to work out at least once a week. (Being too lazy the whole year)
  5. Trying to get a dragon baby.
Okay that all for it. 5 goals are more than enough to make me struggle... I seriously must work hard on it. Doing is easy, maintaining is hard.

Give me the strength !!!

Weiliang and Chui Guat wedding on the eve of Christmas. Still haven't decide what to wear for that day.

And especially, I be celebrating Christmas with my poly friends... time to buy gift.

Day 1 Honeymoon @ Taipei

My long awaiting trip.... Finally we manage to go for our honeymoon due to our tight schedule. I am so excited about it... 4 years had not been travelling for holiday... all my travel were work related.
Well, this round we choose to travel with tour agency, save our trouble to plan and decide where to move about.
We got to meet at the airport @8.15am with our tour leader and group of people we will be travelling together for the next 8days. Our journey begins once we board on the aircraft...

(Sorry for those reading my blog on Taiwan trip... I going to flood with photos)

Excited once we start flying
Since the travelling time is 4 hour, it mean I got plenty of time camwhore and snapping pictures around.
Our Face look so tired
Finally here come our meal.... okay frankly speaking, the taste is not so fantastic, but I just like the way airline present the food.
Fried Rice

Beef + Mash Potato
And finally we get more excited as we start seeing Taiwan.... Hello Taiwan, here we come.

Posing while on the way to clear custom
Upon clearing the custom, we meet the tour guide for the 8days stay in Taiwan. Super nice guy and knowledgeable. And quickly with our luggage we board the bus waiting for us and head to our first stop of trying the high-speed train to the Taipei town.

The Entrance to the High-Speed train station

Ticketing Machine

This is where my boarding area will be... No free seating

Hear come the train... manage to get a snap shot of it.

My seat was actually separate away from my hubby... however the nice uncle saw it, therefore offer to exchange seat with me. Thanks alot... Taiwanese are so nice and friendly.

Once reached, the first stop that we go to was 淡水老街 (Dan Shui Old Street). Very well know for selling quail egg ( 铁蛋). But it was raining heavily with wind blowing, that make me shiver. In the end, instead of using my foldable umbrella, we ended up buying 2 big umbrella.
I never bought any quail eggs that, but instead enjoying the "smelly bead curd" which taste not bad. And a dish call ah gei ( 阿给). What it contain inside is actually bead curd wrap with glass noodles and with their special sauce in it. Taste yummy.
The only things I don't really like about Taiwan after first day visit is... why is rubbish bin so hard to find??? I walk a few streets but couldn't find a single bin, in the end.. hehe... I throw it to my tour guide since they having coffee at a cafe.
Our next stop is Shilin market (士林夜市. A famous and well know place in Taiwan that everyone one will visit when they are there. This place is well known for the food they offer.... tasty, huge variety and most importable is cheap.
My Tour Guide giving us a small brief on what is nice here and what not to take. He keep saying anything that is cold... don't buy cause he worry we got weak stomach.

It is always good that if you gone to their night market, it be best that you had accompany. Not because of safety, but is due to Taiwan had too many nice snacks, and if you need to try most of the items, you definitely need someone to help you consume it.

Super huge sausage
First item we try is 大肠包小肠 (big sausage wrap small sausage). The so call Big Sausage is actually made of glutinous rice, that it will be wrap with pickles and yummy sausage depend on the favor we order. For me, I choose the garlic one.

大肠包小肠

Next the famous item here, Super XL Crispy Chicken Cutler. For this, you seriously need to share with another person, the size is so huge that after eating you be feeling almost full. Price is cheap too that cost me SGD2.40. A must to try even though the Que is forever long.

As we move around we just feel like eating more items but our tummy is going to burst. OMG.

Next we cross the street to the opp, which still consider as Shilin market to shop.
Seriously, this place is Ladies Paradise... item from hair accessories, clothing to shoes are all in affordable price.

And we pop by a stall that call Prince Frog where we get our drinks here. Yummy as it put in lots of jelly and bubble tea pearl. Chewy and quench our thrist too.

Yup... I'm looking at PJs... as they are really cheap. It only cost me around SGD5.00 /pc. So I grab 2 and go.

Then as we move to one alley, we saw 2 temples. Rather unique so I just pose for a picture here.

Temple at the roof..
By the time we reach our hotel is almost 11pm. Really tire and wish to have a good rest. But I still manage to take a few shots of my room stay.

Nice and comfy, a 5 star hotel which I feel they had equip with all the necessity of what we need.

Love the look through glass from bedroom to bathroom

I did a short video of this hotel room tour... view it to see what they have.
(Hotel name: Chateau De Chine)

Okay I shall stop here and continue with my work. Will blog more on my Taiwan trip this weekend.
